Stephanie Oakes is a young-adult author from Spokane. Her first book, The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly, retells the Grimm brother’s fairy tale “The Handless Maiden” using the modern setting of a religious cult. Oakes earned her MFA in poetry from Eastern Washington University.
